How to Crochet the C2C Open Block Stitch 🧶
Looking for a fun variation on the standard C2C (Corner to Corner) Block Stitch? Then this video is for you! Learn how to crochet the Corner to Corner Open Block Stitch, creating the most beautiful open, lightweight and airy blankets or projects! In this tutorial I will show you step by step how to crochet the C2C Open Block Stitch, how to create a rectangle shape for rectangular blankets, how to create a square version AND how to add a foundation border around your project to add any border you so wish! If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: ua-cam.com/video/LIRYwkkI_4Y/v-deo.html
🧶 Yarn & Hook information:
_Suitable for any yarn - use the recommended hook size for your chosen yarn_
For my blanket I used 3.5 balls of James Brett Aurora Double Knitting yarn in the shade "AU11" for the blanket and 1 ball of Hayfield Bonus DK in Cream for the border with a 4mm Hook
This gave me a blanket approximately 36 inches x 41.5 inches in size (92cm x160cm) including the border

🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
*Do you have a left handed version of this video?* If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on UA-cam yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
*How much yarn will I need?* This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
*How many squares do I need for a blanket?* That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
*Do you have the written pattern?* Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. *All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website*
*How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's?* Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
*Can you remake this video so it is slower?* If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: ua-cam.com/video/LIRYwkkI_4Y/v-deo.html
*Why do you use American stitch terminology?* I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet-stitch-conversions

Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I am a knitter who couldn't quite get past granny square patterns. Now, thanks to you, I have broadened my crochet ability, a bit. I had knit my sister an afghan with beautiful varigated yarn, but had a lot of leftover skeins. Now I am using it up with this pattern, and it's so easy and lovely!😊

I never tried C2C because I thought it would be kinda hard to remember. You made it look so easy and now I am hooked. I just dont want to lay it down. I say to myself I will do one more row and then stop, lol. Before I know it I have done 5 more rows. I love that yarn, never heard of it here in the USA but I have ordered some from James Brett . Thank you so much for this video. You do such beautiful work.

I love this. I am new to crochet (avid knitter). I am fine until.it comes to creating that last treble at the end of the 1st round border square. I end up with a massive corner hole and then when ending the 2nd round of half dcs to conclude the square same issue 😢. Any thoughts? So glad I found your channel. There’s an easier way! You make your slip knot, then chain two. From there you work all of your stitches into that first chain. To close it, you just pull the tail away from you and the knot towards you. Hope this helps! ❤
